For house wraps or attic floors, solid or vapor-barrier foil is used. For standard attic installations (stapled to rafters), perforated foil is required to allow moisture vapor to escape safely, avoiding condensation buildup.
Both sides of Arma Foil™ are equally reflective. However, the foil must face an air space of at least 3/4" to work correctly. In an attic rafter install, facing the foil down prevents dust from settling on top of it over time.
Yes, you can lay the perforated foil directly over existing fiberglass or blown-in insulation on the attic floor. Be sure to use perforated foil so moisture does not become trapped inside your ceiling joists.
