Insulate, seal, and quiet your space

HandiFoam® Low Density Spray Foam (HFO) is an open cell spray foam designed to fill and insulate, deaden sound and reduce vibrations in larger cavities. This low density / open cell foam is available in high volume kit sizes - 1550bf and 500bf to cover large areas. It is dispensed using the patented HandiGun™  point and shoot applicator for accurate and precise applications.

Due to its excellent adhesion properties, HandiFoam® low density spray foam provides an excellent insulation by creating a continuous barrier that completes the building envelope. This helps improve indoor air quality, lowers heating and cooling costs and reduces energy consumption. Our easy-to-use spray foam kits assist in attaining ENERGY STAR™ rating and/or LEED credits.

Manufactured with a Low-GWP (HFO) Blowing Agent

This kit uses HandiFoam's environmentally friendly HFO (Hydrofluoroolefin) blowing agent — the same low-global-warming-potential technology reflected in the product name.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the three most important tips for spraying foam successfully? +
• Temperature! 80 degrees (can take 24-48 hours to reach ambient)
• Test shot without a tip into trash can before spraying -- look for 2 streams of chemical, one from each side of the gun.
• If you stop spraying for 30 seconds or more, replace the tip on the end of the gun before pulling the trigger again. Be careful with this one! If you accidentally pull the trigger with a clogged nozzle tip on the end of the gun, quickly (within 5 or 10 seconds) perform another test shot without a tip into a trash can to clear the gun and save it from seizing up.
What is a board foot (bf)? +
• A board foot is a unit of volume (similar to cubic feet) which measures a square foot at 1 inch of thickness. Divide the number of board feet by 12 to convert to cubic feet.
What R-value does this foam provide? +
• For each inch of thickness, this foam provides R4.4. At 3 inches of thickness, an R value over R13 can be achieved, meeting most residential codes for exterior walls.
How long can spray foam remain exposed before it needs to be covered? +
Spray foam can last several days to months without significant damage due to UV light. The longer it is exposed to UV, it will start to degrade more and more. Over the course of several months, it will start to turn a dark yellow color. Covering the foam within a few weeks will ensure proper performance of the foam. Standard building times for new construction or remodels are completely normal with regards to foam exposure to UV light.
What personal protective equipment (PPE) should I wear? +
• 2 compartment P95 organic cartridge respirator
• Coverall
• Goggles
• Nitrile Gloves
How many square feet does this kit cover? +
• This kit is specified in terms of a volume measurement (board feet). For 2 inches thickness, the 1550 bf kit will cover 775 sf. For 3 inches thickness, it will cover 516 sf. *Coverage is specified under ideal lab conditions and is highly dependent upon temperature, spray technique, and other environmental conditions and usage characteristics.
Why should I choose HandiFoam instead of other spray foam brands? +
• Consistent, reliable, and high quality foam cell structure
• Colorwise nozzles that turn blue to indicate chemical that is too cold
What sets Energy Efficient Solutions apart from other companies? +
• Call us! We will answer! With years of experience, let us help you determine the best product for your application, how best to use the kits, and how best to get the most energy efficient solution for your project.
